1. Who we are
Lyrlio by RWEB ("Lyrlio," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Lyrlio study app and this website (together, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
2. Information we collect
- Account information— your name, email address, and, for institutional accounts, your institution's name.
- Content you provide — audio recordings, notes and documents you add to the app, and the study materials generated from them. If you record a lecture or class, that recording may also capture the voice of your instructor or other people present — see Terms of Service §5 for your responsibilities when recording others.
- App permissions — the app asks for device permissions only for features you actually use: microphone access to record a lecture, and photo library/file access to import a document or image. You can review or revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings.
- Purchase information — if you buy a paid plan, the app store that processes your payment (Apple App Store or Google Play) sends us your subscription status and a transaction identifier. We never receive or store your payment card details.
- Usage and device data — how you interact with the Service, plus device, browser, app-version and log information, and crash/error diagnostics.
- Institutional data — for institutional accounts, activation code usage and license assignment.
- Waitlist and inquiry information — if you join our waitlist or submit an institutional inquiry, the details you provide in that form.
3. Cookies and analytics
This website and app use a small number of tools to understand usage and catch bugs, and nothing else:
- Product analytics (PostHog) — which pages or screens you view and which features you use, so we know what to improve.
- Error monitoring (Sentry) — automatically captured technical details when something breaks, so we can fix it.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies or trackers, and we do not sell or share this data for advertising purposes. You can block cookies in your browser settings, though some site features may not work as well as a result.
4. How we use information
- To provide the Service — transcribing, summarizing and generating study materials from your content.
- To communicate with you — service updates, waitlist confirmations, and responses to inquiries.
- To maintain security — detecting and preventing abuse, fraud and unauthorized access.
- To improve the Service.
We do not sell your personal data or your content, and we do not use your content to train third-party AI models.
5. Legal bases for processing (EEA / UK users)
If you're located in the European Economic Area or the UK, we process your information on these legal bases: to perform our contract with you (providing the Service you signed up for), our legitimate interests (keeping the Service secure and improving it), your consent (where we ask for it, such as optional communications), and, where applicable, to comply with a legal obligation.
6. How we share information
- Service providers — infrastructure and processing partners who handle data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations, including our database/backend provider (Supabase), web hosting (Vercel), transactional email delivery (Resend), product analytics (PostHog), error monitoring (Sentry), and the app stores that distribute the app (Apple App Store, Google Play) and process any in-app payments they handle. We also use third-party AI processing providers to generate transcripts and study materials from your content.
- Legal requirements — if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety or property of Lyrlio, our users, or others.
- Business transfers — in the event of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.
We do not sell your data.
7. Data retention
We retain your account and content data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or request deletion, we delete or anonymize your data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal, security or accounting purposes. If you join our waitlist, we retain that information until you ask to be removed, or until you sign up for or decline the Service once it launches.
8. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to opt out of marketing communications. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@lyrlio.com.
9. California and other U.S. state privacy rights
If you're a resident of California or another U.S. state with its own privacy law (for example Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut or Utah), you may have additional rights to know what personal information we hold about you, and to request its correction or deletion. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front. To exercise any state privacy right, contact us at support@lyrlio.com.
10. Children's privacy
Lyrlio is not directed at children under 13 for direct, individual sign-up, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through direct sign-up. Institutional accounts (for example, school-provided access) are managed by the institution, which is responsible for obtaining any parental consent or other consent required under COPPA or applicable law before providing students with access.
11. International users
Lyrlio may process and store data in countries other than your own. By using the Service, you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in such countries.
12. Security
See our Security page for how we protect your data.
13. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do, and communicate material changes where appropriate.
